'Wild Hearts' Bush Kindy and Homeschool Program Term 2 (Deposit Only)

Wondering what children do at Enchanted Childhoods?

Enchanted Childhoods programs carefully balance both planned experiences and child-led unstructured outdoor play. Our experiences are selected based on their capacity to support children's holistic development and ability to inspire children to think and play in new and creative ways. All of our programs are designed to build gross and fine motor skills, support the development of a healthy vestibular system, build confidence and emotion regulation, and foster play-based and experiential learning, social skills and creativity.

Our 'Wild Hearts' Program

Our 'Wild Hearts' Bush Kindy and Homeschool program is designed to support our explorers' growing independence and development with the guidance of our qualified team of educators. The sessions are suited to children aged between 4-7 years of age. During each session, children will engage in sensory-rich free play in our beautiful natural environments that challenges their minds and bodies. Our explorers have exclusive access to our 10 acre property and fully-fenced nature play space, along with an all weather classroom. There will also be an opportunity to engage in activities related to the program theme for the term and week.

Children will also have the opportunity to meet, feed and learn about our farm friends while at Enchanted Childhoods.

Who are the team?

Our 'Wild Hearts' sessions are facilitated by Julie and Elissa, with a maximum child:staff ratio of 6:1.

Julie brings to our programs extensive experience working with children from ages 3 to 18, having worked as a junior primary teacher, primary teacher, secondary school teacher, and Early Childhood Practitioner for almost two decades. Her roles have included working closely with children with disabilities and diverse learning needs. Julie is particularly passionate about supporting the whole child to grow, feel joy, and succeed. She is dedicated to building children’s confidence in themselves, fostering their capacity as capable and resilient humans, and nurturing their relationship with nature. Across all her teaching experiences, Julie has observed that children thrive when outdoors. The freedom of no walls and the opportunities for open-ended play ignite their creativity, while also enhancing their physical and mental well-being.

Elissa is both a qualified early childhood educator and Associate Professor of Psychology, with a passion for supporting children (and all people) to thrive through time in, and psychological connectedness with, nature. Her research and practice focus is conservation psychology, which considers the relationships between people and the natural world and seeks to make these healthier and more sustainable- for the benefit of people and our planet.

Through Enchanted Childhoods programs, the Enchanted Childhoods team translate science into practice through creating experiences and opportunities carefully designed to strengthen children’s relationships with the natural world and positively support their physical, cognitive, and social and emotional development. Our favourite thing about our programs is seeing children thrive in being 'wild and free'.

What time?

Our 'Wild Hearts' program is a full-day program. Explorers should arrive between 9-9.15am ready for our morning welcome and be collected at 2.45pm.

What do we need to bring?

We are an outdoor program so please bring suitable clothing for the daily weather conditions, and (at least) one full change of clothes for your child/ren to allow for new clothes after water/messy play. Children should also bring a labelled water bottle, lunch and snack.

How are parents involved in the program?

Working closely with families and building a community is an important part of our program. Parents are welcome to stay and support their children as needed in the first weeks of term to make for a gentle and positive transition experience and we will have a rotating roster of parent volunteers invited to stay and support the sessions each week thereafter (with apropriate working with children clearances).
